Week 1 Juco Recap: Football Scores, Player of the Week & More

HATTIESBURG, Miss (THN News) - Thursday night kicked off an eventful night around The Sipp as community colleges welcomed football back into Mississippi. Here are the scores, recaps and highlight from last night games.

Our Week 1 Player of the Week powered by The MAP Store is Landon Varnes. Landon is the Quarterback at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Landon had a completion percentage of 68.3% as he completed 28/41 passes. He threw for an impressive 426 yards. He also had 2 touchdowns.

Northeast vs East Central| 24-13

Let's start with Northeast vs East Central. The Tigers beat the Warriors 24 - 13 to start their season off with a 1-0 win. Quarterback Brady Hammond threw for 268 yards. Receiver Elelijah Singleton had 23 receptions for 142 yards. Tap here to see game recap.

Co-lin vs Coahoma| 42-3

Moving on to Co-lin Wolves vs Coahoma Tigers. The Wolves beat the Tigers 42-3 to start the season off with an impressive 1-0. Jaylen Pettway threw for 198 yards. Matt Mayfield had 75 yards for 6 receptions. Tap here to see game recap.

Northwest vs Pearl River| 42-17

Next we move on to Northwest vs Pearl River. Northwest defeated Pearl River 42-17. Neko Fann threw for 138 yards. Receiver Reed Jesiolowski had 44 yards. Despite the lost, Reese Mooney threw for 291 yards. Kedrick Triplett had 8 receptions for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns. Tap here to see the game recap.

Southwest vs Holmes| 34-6

This train keeps on rolling as we head to Southwest Bears vs Holmes Bulldogs. The Bears defeated the Bulldogs 34-6. Holmes went the first 3 quarters without scoring but did put up 6 points in the 4th quarter.

Jones College vs Mississippi Delta| 33-0

Next stop is Jones College vs Mississippi Delta. Jones College blew out Mississippi Delta 33-0. Cannon Crowder threw for 212 yards. Ky'Yon Harris rushed for 53 yards. Receivers TK Keyes and Kaiden Smith together had 93 receiving yards. Tap here to see the game recap.

Hinds College vs Itawamba| 34-7

Let's head over to Hinds Community College vs Itawamba Community College. Hinds College defeated Itawamba 34-7. Itawamba went the first 3 quarters without a score but finally did score in the 4th quarter.

East Mississippi vs MS Gulf Coast| 41-21

Lastly, our train stops at East Mississippi vs MGCCC. MGCCC defeated East Mississippi 41 -21. Landon Varnes threw for an impressive 426 yards. Tyler Henderson had 10 catches for186 yards and 1 touchdown. Tap here to see the game recap.
