HATTIESBURG, Miss (THN News) - According to sources, Maximus of Hattiesburg is preparing to fire over 400 of its employees right before the holidays as it is preparing to permanently shut down its Hattiesburg's location, leaving many families unemployed during one of the most important holiday seasons of the year.

Maximum provides government-sponsored health and human services programs and business process management.

“In Hattiesburg, we are pleased to serve the Department of Health and Human Services with a contract that is known to many as 1-800-Medicare, where we provide services to tens of millions of Americans,” said Maximus CEO Bruce Caswell in a statement a few years ago.

Back in 2024, Maximus agreed to a 2 year $6.6 billion contract. According to sources, that contract may not be renewed and if it is renewed, it's unlikely the Hattiesburg location will be reopened.
