Jackson State vs Southern Ends In A Tie

HATTIESBURG, Miss (THN News) - Jackson State women's soccer team opened quickly and battled to a hard-fought 2–2 draw at Southern Miss on Wednesday evening at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex.
The Tigers struck first just 2:38 into the match when Dezire Kaila Tablado netted her first goal of the season off an assist from Zaniyah Gonzague. Southern Miss answered in the 19th minute with a goal by Rhyleigh Marks, sending the teams level at halftime.
In the second half, Sarah Portis delivered a go-ahead goal in the 53rd minute, but the Golden Eagles equalized in the 75th minute on a penalty kick by Ryan Smith.
Goalkeeper Valentina Goodloe anchored JSU with five saves on 12 shots faced. Defensively, the Tigers showed resilience, absorbing pressure as Southern Miss finished with a 12–7 shot advantage.
With the draw, Jackson State moves to 1-4-1 on the season, while Southern Miss shifts to 0-5-1.
