Hattiesburg Loses to Oak Grove in the "Battle of the Burg"

HATTIESBURG, Miss (THN News) - After an hourlong lightning delay, Oak Grove beat Hattiesburg 36-20 Friday night in the Battle of the Burg at Oak Grove Stadium.
The game was tied 7-7 after the first quarter, but Oak Grove led 20-7 at halftime and stayed in control behind high school star quarterback Kellen Hall and a strong defensive effort.
Hall threw for 323 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions, completing passes to seven receivers. Jakylynn Moody led Oak Grove with 99 receiving yards and a touchdown, while KJ Roberts Jr. and Slade Gillentine also caught scoring passes.
Oak Grove’s defense held Hattiesburg to 45 rushing yards, recorded three sacks and recovered two fumbles, including a 35-yard touchdown return by Jay Barnes.
Hattiesburg quarterback Gavin Ducksworth threw for 230 yards and a touchdown, while Keviyun “Tre” McQueen scored twice on the ground and Kamhaud Plump had 10 catches for 125 yards.
Oak Grove enters its bye week 2-1 after back-to-back wins and will use the break to get healthier before focusing on Laurel. Hattiesburg, now 1-2, travels to Biloxi next Friday.
