LAUREL, Miss. – The William Carey Men's Basketball Team left little to doubt, as the defeated Southeastern Baptist 113-59 Monday night.

"I was pleased with our energy tonight," said Head Coach Steve Knight. "We played well together and guarded the ball hard, leading to 21 steals. Several players had good shooting nights and that was good to see."

The Crusaders set the tone early, shooting 47% from the floor and knocking down eight three pointers in the first half. On the defensive end Carey forced 17 turnovers to go along with eleven steals while out rebounding the Chargers 22-16.

Asthon Campbell opened the game, draining three straight three-point baskets with Cam Brown following with five points and Ankerion Gross dropping a three pointer to make it 17-2 WCU four minutes in. For the rest of the half the Crusaders continued to the hot shooting and stringent defense leading to a 46-17 lead at the break.

The second half saw much of the same, as Carey shot 62% from the floor and made ten three pointers. Again, on the defensive end, WCU forced another 17 turnovers with 10 steals.

Four different Crusaders combined for a 14-6 run to open the second half to push the lead to 37 five minutes in and by the nine-minute mark Carey had extended their lead to 81-35 on a Brown layup. It was all WCU from there, as they pushed their lead to as many as 60 points on their way to victory.

Cam Brown led seven Crusaders in double figures with 22 points while Randarius Hughes added 17 points. Ankerion Gross finished with 15 points with Ashton Campbell and Jamar Jenkins each having 12 points. Dylan Brumfield chipped in ten points to go along with 10 assists while Javeon Gordon finished with ten points.
