Mississippi Gulf Coast Warnings Remain in Effect

The National Hurricane Center has maintained its existing warnings for Mississippi.

A Hurricane Warning remains in effect from Ocean Springs, Mississippi, eastward into the Florida Panhandle.

A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for the Mississippi coastline west of Ocean Springs, including Gulfport and Biloxi.

A Storm Surge Warning remains in effect along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Forecast storm surge levels remain:

  • Ocean Springs eastward: 5–7 feet above normally dry ground.

  • Mississippi River mouth to Ocean Springs: 3–5 feet above normally dry ground.

These water levels are possible in affected areas if peak surge coincides with high tide.

No changes to Mississippi's coastal warnings were announced in Advisory No. 9.

When Will Mississippi Feel the Impacts?

Tropical-storm conditions are expected to begin affecting warning areas Friday, October 9.

Hurricane conditions are expected within the hurricane warning area Friday night into early Saturday.

The projected landfall window remains late Friday or early Saturday, October 10.

For Hattiesburg and surrounding Pine Belt communities, gusty winds and heavy rainfall remain concerns. However, I could not independently confirm a newly issued inland warning specifically for Hattiesburg in this update.
