LAUREL, MS- Saturday, December 14, 2024, Blues on 5th Street kicks off at 2:00pm. The event will be held at the Laurel Jones County Black History Museum and Arts.
The event will feature refreshments, a tour of the museum and is free to the public.
The event will give people of all ages the opportunity to engage in learning about the history of blues in Mississippi.
The event will also feature an exciting Rashad the Blues Kid and Jock Webb lecture as they explore the history of the blues and give an never before seen in-depth look into the 'Pine Belt Blues.'
The event will also feature the very talented pianist Dr. Tito Lanier. Dr. Lanier will give a deep dive into how the piano has transformed and help shape the blues as we know it today. It is almost certain he will give the crowd a hands on sneak peak.
Finally, The Laurel Jones County Black History Museum will give a special presentation to the legendary Tommie T-Bone Pruitt. T-Bone led the Rhythm Rockers and played with blues icon Bo Diddley.
