19 Year old Hattiesburg Schools Basketball Star sentenced to 20 years

Hattiesburg News Staff

Hattiesburg, MS- A 19 year old kid has been sentenced to 20 years in prison according to Forrest County Sheriff's Office. The 2 decades sentence was confirmed by the Forrest County Circuit Clerk's Office. Germany Underwood, 19 years old of Hattiesburg, MS was sentenced on January 17 to serve 20 years in prison for residential burglary.

According to people who knew Germany, he was a star basketball athlete at Hattiesburg Public School District. He was smart and very respectful. Germany however, like many kids in the inner city, grew up in poverty with not many resources to help guide his life outside of the home.

The lack of resources also includes Germany being represented by the Forrest County Public Defender's office meaning his case was given the bare minimum attention. He could not afford any attorney. This is his first felony conviction.

You can read his full court order below exclusively on THN. Remember, Hattiesburg News is my news, your news, our news. We will be following this story carefully and report any updates.
